An avid inventor and boating enthusiast, Duff Hay, embarked on a journey to design, patent, and market a new mooring device that fits the description above. The result is an amazing patented product called the Stowaway Holdaway™.
The Stowaway Holdaway™is a sleek and portable mooring device with a rubber tip to hold your boat or Personal Water Craft (PWC) away from the dock to avoid marring or scuffing the finish. It can conveniently be used on nearly any dock and even to hold two boats together without banging.

The concept is actually quite simple. The goal is to keep your
watercraft away from the dock (or whatever it is tied to), while at the
same time, protecting the boat. As seen in the picture below, this
is exactly what the Stowaway Holdaway does.
The Stowaway Holdaway (tm) is actually a simple concept which makes it extremely easy to use. As seen in the picture below, the device is made of a combination of a patented locking device in the middle, strong PVC pipe, a, nylon rope running through the length of the device through both ends, and a second rope attached to the middle of the device. In addition, the end that ties to the boat is capped with rubber to protect your boat.

The device is designed so that one end (the left end in the picture above) is tied somewhere on your boat (usually to the front or back cleat of the boat). The other end (in this case the right end) is tied to your dock (or whatever you are tying off to). The middle is then tied to another place on the dock. This way, when a Stowaway Holdaway (tm) is attached to both the front and back of your boat, your boat is held safely away from your dock and cannot float front or back (as seen in the picture below).

The magic of the device is the patented locking system that allows the Stowaway Holdaway to adjust to whatever size you need. By simply unscrewing the locking device (only a few screws) you can adjust the Stowaway to the desired length. Then, when you have adjusted it to fit your boat and whatever dock you are temporarily or permanently at, you can tighten the clamp back up.

After it is locked in place, it IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE! This is why the patent is so valuable! In addition, each end is protected by a rubber cap to protect both your boat and your dock!
No bumbers are needed and you do not need to worry, even in high winds! When you are ready to go, you simply untie the device and drive away. However, the best part is that you can also take it with you!

Have you already purchased a mooring device? If so, then you know how valuable they are to your boat. It is a shame when someone decides to make a large purchase such as a boat and does not even take care of it by pretending that simple bumpers will protect it. That would be like buying a nice new car and then parking it two inches from every car so that you are assured every other car door puts a ding in it.
Therefore, a good mooring device is essential if you plan on protecting your boat. However, the other mooring devices on the market have some problems:
- They are too expensive. Most cost over $200 at a minimum.
- They are difficult to use (It took me four days to figure one of them out)
- They require you to make adjustments to your dock so they will work

The last point is one of the main advantages of the Stowaway Holdaway over other docking devices. What do you do when you need to tie off to another dock (or even another boat for that matter)? YOU TAKE IT WITH YOU.
As you can see, the device compacts to an extremely small size for easy transport in your boat. You will always be prepared to dock your boat, no matter where you are.

enthusiastically for saving his boat. He was at a friends house with
his boat, and a violent storm kicked up (have you ever had this happen to
you?). Luckily, he was using his Stowaway at his friends dock and
his boat did not even get a scratch (like it would have if he was only

Versatile to tie to any dock or watercraft
Whether you have a 60 foot yacht, or a 8 foot row boat, you can use the Stowaway Holdaway. There are four models , the SN, MN, LN, and XN to accommodate boats with side or center cleats (or no cleats for that matter) and up to 60 feet long! You can even use it if you have a dock slip that uses a front tie-off.
The only difference between three of the models, the SN, MN, and LN is the length that they can adjust to. In the picture below, the SN is on the top, the MN in the middle, and the LN on the bottom.

The XN is the only one that is made different. It was developed mainly for large boats over 23 feet long. It has a double-locking system for extra strong hold, is made of stronger PVC pipe, and uses extra thick nylon rope.

watercraft.

As you can guess, most people would need to buy two Stowaway Holdaway's from the table above -- one for the front of the boat and one for the back of the boat. However, one of the unique aspects of this device is that a combination of two of the Stowaway Holdaway's will work perfect for nearly any boat. Just measure the distance you need from the front and back cleats to the dock and reference the table above for the correct combinations of Stowaway's for your boat. For Example:
- Two Model SN -- Use this combination for when a boat is up to 23 feet long and has side cleats on both the front and rear. Most fishing boats and pontoons fit this configuration.
- Two Model MN -- Use this combination for personal watercraft and for boats with side cleats (up to 23 feet long) that need more space between the boat and the dock. This combination could also be used for small boats with center cleats -- assuming 32 inches is long enough from the dock to the cleat.
- Two Model LN -- Use this combination for boats (up to 23 feet) with center cleats in both the front and the rear of the boat.
- Two Model XN -- Use this combination for larger boats (up to 60 feet) with side cleats in the front and the rear. This model is extremely strong!
- One Model SN and One Model LN -- Use this combination for boats with a center cleat in the front and a side cleat in the back (or visa versa). This combination fits most open bow recreational ski boats and some fishing boats.
